From CDM roles on sites in Coventry, Manchester and Weymouth, we were kept on for the Paralympics as well.

Just before this happened, i had a conversation with the crew (who were outside contractors); " Are you sure you don't need spreader mats (that you have just there) before you start ? As footpaths are designed to take the weight of just people not vehicles so have far less stability ..?"

Our job sometimes as Health & Safety Consultants is giving advise that's not heeded ... this i what happens when it goes wrong.

Luckily no injuries just minor damage to the footpath .
